Homeskool News!

68198_175702982448395_3251813_nFirst thing to announce is that it appears that Homeskool/Tooth is no more – at least not as a part of Lord Hightower’s kingdom.  Our beloved overlord ran into some unexpected financial hardship, completely unrelated to the label, and had to close his end of the shop. Because of this, he has effectively allowed the bands to take over the label if they so choose.  We’re not sure how we will proceed in regards to the Homeskool but we’re a pretty DIY outfit and releases won’t be affected.  The main thing we got from Homeskool that was new to us was that they paid for a PR firm.  It was something we’d never done and surely not anything we would have had chosen to pay for simply because we usually prefer to put our limited resources into the music, albums, and live shows but it was quite an interesting experience.  So, I feel we should give a proper shout-out to Gavin Rhodes, Dory Greenberg, and Marissa Graziadio over at Audible Treats.  Honestly, it was kind of weird for us work with professional and disciplined folks.  We’re used to getting some wild hair up our ass and just doing it (see the AVABL theme and video) while AT approached things more methodically but somehow, despite these conflicting approaches, it worked out pretty well and we got exposure in places we’d never have dreamed of. So, a kudos for all the hard work guys; we’ll miss you.  Also, props and appreciation to the former leader of Homeskool, Lord Hightower for pushing us along with the hair-brained idea of the module and all his cockamamie schemes.  Even when his finances got all jacked up, he still did what he could to help us out.  That’s some pretty stand-up shit right there.

MODULE! MODULE! MODULE NEWS!

moduleOK, so here is the story. We met with the heads of the LP4 art department (OK, our friends, Stevie and August) at one of our top-secret  headquarters (OK OK Star Pizza) on Tuesday night and it looks like they have everything corrected and fixed-up for the next run and we may even have some in time for Saturday’s show.

Here is the final word on the whole module thing.

  • There will be a run of 100 total.
  • We will be selling them for $30.00 (+S&H if mailed)
  • They will include 3 CD-Rs in a case, one module, and a 20 sided dice.
  • If you want to buy a copy outside of Houston, just do the following:
    • e-mail us at hellokitty2399 at gmail
    • have “AVABL mail order” as the subject line
    • include your mailing address
    • once we get the new copies in we will e-mail you with the total amount of  S&H to add and how to pay us.
  • SPECIAL NOTE FOR FOLKS WHO BOUGHT THE BETA VERSION AT CACTUS: When we had our release show at Cactus, there was no time to copy-edit what we got back from Stevie and August.  Nobody’s fault there really – just the kind of things that happen when you are busting your ass on a deadline.  Regardless, we want to make sure you guys who bought one have the opportunity to get a corrected version of the Module.  Just follow the mail order instructions in the step above, mention in the body that you got one at Cactus, and we will personally hand-deliver the new versions to you.
  • Once again, the theme song to the module is not included in the 3 CD set but can be downloaded for free at Soundcloud:
  • Digital Downloads are coming soon via CD Baby.

Escatones 7″ Release Show (We’re playing early)

EscatonesReleaseSo, this Saturday, we’re playing with our good friends The Escatones over at Rudyards!!!  Wooo!  They have a new 7″ and they have the Butthole Surfers’ Paul Leary guesting on guitar on one track of one song!  Check it out!!!

Now, one thing to note here.  We are playing first.  Yes, 10 pm (maybe 10:30 pm at the latest) is when we will start.  Our good friends Wo Fat and From Beyond are playing over at Fitz on the same night and From Beyond asked Steve if he could fill-in which is why we asked to open the show.  As it turns out, Steve won’t be able fill-in after all but that means more beer for us.  Point is, don’t be late or you will miss our set.  Poor Pilate and The Escatones are amazing too so stick around and check them out.   See you all then!
