Catching up on the LP4 Blog- VU show, Lee Jackson, Video, CDs, Texas Pre-Release Shows

Good gravy we are behind on blogging!  That’s simply becasue there is so much going on right now that we barely have time to be on-line.  So we’re going to try to catch everyone up as briefly and painlessly as possible.

29-95 FALSE IDOLS – VELVET UNDERGROUND TRIBUTE SHOW

First off, there was the was the recent Velvet Underground tribute show at the Continental Club that took place last month.  Our thanks to Joe Mathlete and 29-95 for the opportunity to do this show – it was a lot of work but well worth it and a lot of fun.  I don’t think I’ve ever been as exhausted from doing a show ever as this one. We played an hour long set of VU tracks, had the full lightshow thing going, and the crowd was super awesome.  We even had some elder hippie dude tell us he hadn’t seen a light show like that since he saw the Strawberry Alarm Clock back in the 60’s a couple of months before they released “Incense and Peppermint.”  That’s a pretty nice compliment especially since we’ve been investing so much in our light show. If you want to get an idea of how the show was, you can see pictures of the show taken by Jason Smith of the band Alkari and you can see his full set here (link).   Thanks to everyone who came out.

FOR LEE JACKSON IN SPACE IS AVAILABLE NOW

As you know from reading our blog, we wrote and recorded a song last month for the Lee Jackson Tribute album, For Lee Jackson In Space.  That anthology is out now and you can stream it and download it on Bandcamp.

It’s $30 for 94 tracks!  That’s a pretty great deal and the list of artists is like a who’s who of Terrastock artists.  Just check it out, it’s stunning and humbling to be included with those bands but given how Lee inspired, informed, and touched people, it should come as no surprise that people would want to give back in some manner to his legacy.  Also, all profits will go to the Texas chapter of the ALS Association which is super sweet.

Thanks Mats, Ned and Travis for all the hard work.

CROM VIDEO IS COMPLETE

The video for the first song from Bag Of Hammers, “Crom,” is complete.  We just finished rendering the final cut this past Monday morning at 2am and sent if off to Homeskool Records’ PR people.  Look for it to appear on-line sometime in July to correspond with the official release of the album.

That is Crom on the right there in a screen shot from one of the dailies we did a few months ago.  If you recall Clinton’s one commandment in the video was “More Blood” and we dilivered so, needless to say, folks who don’t like seeing clay on clay violence may want to turn away but those of you with stronger constitutions we hope will find it all pretty amusing and as my ex-girlfriend said said when she saw the final cut, “The song is so catchy.. Weird.. I bet no one ever referred to an LP4 song as ‘catchy.'”

CDs JUST ARRIVED FROM THE MANUFACTURING PLANT

Yes, as I write this, Clinton is bringing over a box of CDs.  He just got the package from the CD manufacturing plant which means we will definitely have copies available for our Pre-release shows.

YEAHYUSSSS!

And THIS is what it looks like sitting here on my laptop at Black Hole Coffee shop.

Which reminds me about the last bit of news….

BAG OF HAMMERS – TEXAS PRE-RELEASE SHOWS

We have three shows coming up in a few weeks in Houston, Dallas and Austin where we will be doing a pre-release of our newest album.  The album will officially be released in July but we kind of wanted to do something special for our friends in Texas so if you are around the weekend of June 22-24 come see us and pick up an early copy of the album.
